ACNE TREATMENTS

►What is adult and teenager acne?
A common misconception is that acne only affects teenagers. But more than ever before, adults are suffering with oily and acneic conditions. Unfortunately, adult cases are often more persistent than teenage acne, which can be particularly frustrating for those who were spared outbreaks as teenagers.

The primary catalyst of adult acne is chronic stress. Balancing personal and professional responsibilities makes this generation of adults particularly prone to this condition. This constant, continued level of stress throws the adrenal glands into overdrive, which in turn can boost sebum production, setting the stage for acne development. While stress creates the trigger for acne; there are four main factors that contribute to development of acne: overactive sebaceous glands (the production of too much oil), dead skin cell accumulation, bacteria and inflammation.

At Nell Clinic our professional treatment along with Dermalogica’s new MediBac Clearing system is formulated specifically to treat adult acne. Each product, with its unique acne-fighting and clearing ingredients, is designed to control the four main factors that contribute to acne.
Until now, most products and treatments for acne are designed for teenage skin, making them too harsh and irritating for adult acne sufferers. The aggressive acne treatments created for teenage skin (which is more resilient) can cause adverse reactions on older skin, including flaking peeling, excessive dryness and even additional breakouts.
Teenager acne is usually caused by androgen hormone imbalanced (due to puberty) it triggers an overproduction of oil, creating a sticky, greasy appearance. The oils on skin act as a binder, holding on to dead skin cells are normally shed through the process of skin cell renewal. The follicle that releases oil to the surface becomes clogged with both dead skin cells and oil, prohibiting oxygen from entering the follicle, allowing p- acne bacterium (an anaerobic bacterium) to breed. Once p- acne bacterium multiples, it causes swelling, itching, and redness around the follicle, forming acne.
The first step in any successful treatment is to boost the health of the skin itself, rather than going directly to harsh spot treatments and medications.

At Nell Clinic our customized treatments by professional therapist will help you to have a healthy skin.
We use dermalogica products (# 1 health products) which are free of artificial color, artificial fragrances, S.D alcohol and Mineral oil (ingredients that can contribute to skin irritation and sensitivity). They are the best products to use to help maintain the health of your skin without increasing sensitivity.

DRY DEHYDRATED SKIN

Dry, dehydrated skin

►What conditions are dry and dehydrated skin?
It can be a temporary problem or a lifelong concern. Dry skin is a very common problem in modern life, affecting people of all ages. Dry skin generally refers to skin that is lacking oil, whereas dehydrated skin is characterized by the lack of moisture in the stratum corneum (outer layer of skin cells). Both dry and dehydrated skin are often irritated, inflamed and itchy, and these conditions are generally worsen in areas with relatively few sebaceous (oil) glands such as the arms, legs, torso, and cheek and eye the area.
Other symptoms of dry skin can include a feeling of tightness especially after showering, bathing or swimming, skin feels and looks rough rather than smooth, slight to severe flaking or scaling, fine lines, cracks that can sometimes bleed, and severe redness.
The top five causes of dry, dehydrated skin are:
●Intrinsic aging is the normal process of physical changes over time that is more about genetics than lifestyle. This process begins in our mid 20s.
● Over cleansing causes the loss of sebum (oil) and it is commonly caused by excessive bathing or showering, scrubbing or use of harsh soaps that dissolve the protective layer of sebum.
● Cold weather and low humidity / warm, dry air can dry out skin and soak up moisture.
● the sun prolongs exposure to the sun causes water to evaporate from the skin.
● Lifestyle smoking, excessive intake of alcoholic beverages and cetin medications can also contribute to dry skin. Deficiency in Essential fatty acids and vitamin A also may cause skin dryness.
At Nell Clinic professional skin treatments including proper exfoliation and galvanic current treatment which are great ways to begin treating and relieving dry skin.

PREMATURE AGING

The natural aging is defined in our genetics resulting in the complex hormonal and physical transformations that take place throughout life. Premature aging refers to the unnatural acceleration of the natural aging process, primarily due to damage from sun exposure (90% of premature aging is caused by ultraviolet rays from the sun) and lifestyle choices (smoking, stress or diet). Premature aging can add up to twenty years to our appearance.
There are ways in which you can treat signs of premature aging. It all starts with regular visits to your skincare therapist, who can work out a prescriptive regimen based on a detailed skin analysis. Your at-home regimen will also play a crucial role.
At Nell Clinic our skin therapist provides a customized skin treatment plan for reducing the sign of premature aging.
