This is the secret to a healthy skin – it easily removes layers of facial built-up make-up, products and oily debris, so that your prescribed Dermalogica moisturizer or booster can penetrate and nourish your skin effectively. Whether or not you wash your face day and night, you might be surprised at what’s left on your skin after a single cleanse. Environmental pollutants in the air, as well as cosmetics such as sun block and waterproof facial make-up, combine daily with the skin’s naturally-sticky sebum (oil) secretions to form a thick, slick, waxy coating by the middle of the day. As chemistry tells us, “like attracts like,” which is why Dermalogica developed a double cleanse technique that involves first cleansing with an oil-based formula that can deconstruct and dissolve layers of oily buildup for a deeper clean than a cleanser alone. Once the waxy facial buildup is dissolved in the oil-based cleanser, the second regular cleanser is used to dissolve the lighter oil. What is the difference of precleanse vs. precleanse balm (New product): Precleanse is a lightweight oil form ideal for normal to oily skin vs.: Precleanse balm, which is a rich balm to oil form and ideal for normal to dry skin.
